In support of helping our clients conform to the EN 301 549 standard, as well as make for a more accessible world, we’ve helped the remarkable team at Able Player develop this alpha version of an open-source browser-based multimedia player that allows the user the option to have the captioning/subtitling track of their choice be spoken out loud … and with a volume control separate from the main volume control. It can be used with or without a screen reader. The caption track audio channel can also be directed to a braille display (thus supporting Deafblind users as well)!

Thank you so much to the Able Player community (and especially the leadership of Joe Dolson since 2025!) as well as the David Berman team (including our implementation by Abhinav Jain)!
